Civil Mediation Services

Litigation is both time consuming and expensive. It is open to public scrutiny. The parties to litigation have no control over the outcome - the judge or the jury decide who "wins" and who "looses". Relationships between the parties are strained or broken.

Mediation is an alternative to litigation. Facilitative mediation is a non-adversarial method of private dispute resolution. In facilitative mediation, parties are enpowered to come to a mutually agreed settlement of a dispute. Mediation saves time and attorney fees. In many cases, a longstanding personal or business relationship is saved. It is also a method of dispute resolution favored by the court system. Mediation can be used in all areas of civil law.

Michael Boersma is a trained facilitative mediator with experience in the mediation of commercial, marine casualty, personal injury, and property damage disputes. He has met the qualifications to be a court appointed major civil case mediator in Michigan and in Cook County, Illinois.

Mr. Boersma also has experience as a neutral in the area of special education mediation and in guardianship mediation.
